Residents can dispose of their organics at City Hall. The organics dumpster is locted behind City Hall. See map for location.
Please use compostable bags to control odors and keep the site clean. All compostable bags must be labeled with the BPI Certification Logo as shown below. These bags are available at most local retail outlets, grocery stores, hardware stores etc. Paper grocery bags may also be used. What material is acceptable in the drop off program? Simply put, this program is for foods scraps and food soiled paper and certified compostable products. Hennepin County has created an organics recycling guide with more information on what is acceptable and tips for participating.
A few key points to remember:
•Please remove all produce stickers. To make this easy, do it right when you get home from the store so no one in the family forgets!
• All food items are good to go except cooking oil. If you use a fryer, that can be recycled at Carver County Environmental Center.
• Please do not include any pet waste, even if you have been told that it can be composted. We don’t want it in the public sites.
• Dryer lint is a no. Many years ago it was included, but with the many synthetic fabrics now, it is not compostable.
