Freshwater Society Since 1968, Freshwater has been a leading public nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving freshwater resources and their surrounding watersheds. The mission of Freshwater is to inspire and empower people to value and preserve our freshwater resources.

Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD) brings together 14 different cities, two counties, and many state and local agencies to protect, preserve and enhance Lake Minnetonka’s environment, economy and vitality. They are one, uniform, coordinating body that cares for and regulates one of Minnesota’s most important resources in a way that is consistent across all jurisdictions, representing all stakeholders. Lake Minnetonka is a unique asset requiring unique governance.

Minnehaha Creek Watershed District is a local unit of government responsible for managing and protecting the water resources in one of the largest and most heavily-used urban watersheds in Minnesota.  The watershed stretches 178-square miles from St. Bonifacius to south Minneapolis and includes Lake Minnetonka, the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes, Minnehaha Creek, and Minnehaha Falls. It includes eight major creeks, 129 lakes, and thousands of wetlands.
