City Utilities
Utilities are billed quarterly via a postcard from the City. You’ll find the following on your bill: MN Water Testing Fee, Water Flat Rate, Water Usage, Sewer Flat Rate, Sewer Usage, Garbage and Recycling.
Late fees are 10% so be sure to get payment in on time.
You can pay by check, cash or credit card. Some residents mail their bill while others drop off payment in the utility drop slot to the left of the door at City Hall. Alternatively, you can find the steps for paying electronically at cityoftonkabay.net/utility.

Want to pay electronically and avoid high late fees? Sign up for PSN (Payment Services Network). We encourage you to sign up for quarterly automatic payments and emails with your bill (please select a date between the 10th and 25th so your payment is processed properly).
If you sign up with a checking account, it is only $1.10 a transaction, so for $4.40 a year you can safely know your payments will get in on time. You can also sign up with a credit card, but the processing fees are a percentage of the total, versus a flat fee.

Garbage, Recycling & Yard Waste
The City of Tonka Bay contracts as an entire City with Republic Services for garbage and recycling services. Everyone is billed equally for this every quarter, regardless of if they live in the home or not.
Pickup is every Monday for garbage and every other Monday for recycling. Bins must be out by 7am. Many residents choose to put them out the night before.

Aluminum, plastic containers, cardboard, glass bottles and paper can be recycled! Click here for details.
Please be sure to: empty, clean & dry all recyclables. This keeps them from getting contaminated. Also, plastic bags and anything smaller than a credit card cannot be recycled.
Yard waste is picked up Mondays starting in April (weather dependent) and ending in November (weather dependent as well so we encourage residents to have yard waste out early). Check out our website for information on how to bag/bundle yard waste.
